September, 2022, New York City, NY: Without a doubt, the most stigmatized, misunderstood, and punished profession in existence is sex work. Created by journalist and adult star, Laura Desiree and famed photographer Ellen Stagg, Red Umbrella Talk is a 5-part series that brings questions about Sex Work from the general public to the professionals in the industry today. Each episode pulls the curtain back on the intricate world of sex work, from a discussion on porn with the famed Romi Rain and Lotus Lain to a Q&A with legendary dominatrixes Eva Oh and Mistress Natalie King.Desiree and Stagg prepared tirelessly for this endeavour by curating a list of burning questions from the public and industry insiders. The series is shot live on location at the Museum of Sex in New York City and is airing on YouTube as well as via podcast on the network.
The series culminates in a powerful, never-before-had discussion with revered first amendment attorneys Lawrence Walters and Robert Corn-Revere. The conversation offers insight into the devastating impact SESTA/FOSTA legislation has had on sex workers and the proliferation of sexual censorship online, including educational and Informative content. It also delves into how the legal system views sex work and proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that sexual expression is a first amendment right.
“The reason in creating this series was to right the wrongs of misinformation and misconceptions our general public circulates, perpetuates and refers to when building their opinion of Sex work. In our final installation to this 5-part series,” shares host & co-creator, Laura Desirée. “I hold court with first amendment lawyers who bring to light the reality that there is a historic effort by our lawmakers to censor sexual expression of all kinds, which is a dangerous reality that impacts the freedoms of all people- not JUST sex workers! Sex Workers are on the front line of a real battle against sexuality that threatens the rights of us ALL.”
“We are incredibly thrilled to support Red Umbrella Talk through the CAM4 Radio Network platform,” says CAM4Radio’s Managing Producer, Shannon McD. “This series offers unprecedented access to subject matter experts who offer unparalleled insight into the ecosystem of sex work that most of society knows very little about…but we can bet they’re quite curious!”
